Bullet Journaling Yearly Pages

Bullet Journaling Yearly Pages

Bullet Journals aren’t just for the day to day to do lists. They are also great tools to provide an overview of your year. They can be used to plan and organize future events and also keep track of meaningful information.

Overview

Calendex

A Calendex is a calendar in which the information is written out in a list format. The date of the month is written down the vertical axis and the horizontal axis contains the names of the months. Special events are than listed down the columns. Using a Calendex is a great way to get a quick overview of important events throughout the year. Click here for more info.

Standard

A standard calendar on the other hand is simply what you find at the beginning of your typical calendar. One page that covers the entire year. This is mainly used to see at a glance which day of the week a typical event will fall on. If you think this is something that you will reference often it may be a good idea to include in your Bullet Journal.

Master Lists

One of my favorite yearly pages to create are master lists. This is where you keep information regarding your interests. You can get as creative as you want with these lists. By drawing pictures of what you are describing, practicing fancy handwriting or just keep it simple. Below are a few ideas to get you started:

  • TV shows
  • Books
  • Movies
  • Places visited

  • Festivals you have attended

    (see picture below)
  • Accomplishments

(a great way to stay motivated)
  • Courses you have completed
  • 5ks you have ran

Reference Pages

This is where you can keep any information you may need to refer back to on a regular basis. It’s useful to have this in your Bullet Journal as opposed to looking the information up every time you need it. Especially when there are multiple ways to do the same thing. For example cooking recipes. Check out these examples:

  • School notes
(table of elements, foreign language conjugations)
  • Cooking recipes
  • Gardening notes

Mood and Health Tracker

Mood

A mood tracker is a fun way to see what emotions have dominated your days throughout the year. You may be able to notice patterns in your mood over time. For example you may find that you become more stressed out at the end of the month when bills are due or happier during the holidays. My taking time to reflect on how you felt throughout the day it gives you a chance to consider what is affecting your emotions. You may be able better detect negative influences and avoid them before they become a problem.

Appointments

An appointment tracker is also a great resource to have readily accessible. You can assign different family members colors to further organize the information. Use this log for doctor and dentist appointments.
Below is an example log

Health

A health tracker can become very similar to an appointment tracker if you are only using it for health appointments. However in this chart I like to include health concerns I may not choose to go to the doctor for. For example if I experience knee pain several days in a row while running I will document it in my health log and also try to note if the pain stops. By writing this information down I will be able to compare my circumstances if it happens again and if I do decide to go to the doctor I will have an exact answer for the, “when did the pain start,” question.

  • This can also be used for multiple family members using the color coding technique.

  • This tracker can also be used to track your monthly cycle and any other repeating health concerns.

Bills

It is up to you if you want to include this information in your bullet journal. You must take into consideration if you were to lose your bullet journal what information others might have access to. I recommend keeping this information simple. Never include account numbers or passwords.

Car payment

You can create graphs to color in to track your progress. Each time you make a payment color in the corresponding part of the graph. If you don’t want to disclose the exact amount you owe you can use percentages.

Student loans

Maintenance

Car

This log is very similar to the appointments log except it’s for your car. Keep track of your usual oil changes as well as any other glitches that needed attention. I also like to add a section on mileage to this log.

Goals

The so commonly made yet rarely accomplished New Year’s Resolutions List is the final suggestion I have for your Bullet Journal Master Lists. Despite its bad reputation of being abandoned mid-year the New Year’s Resolutions List may have found a new home in Bullet Journals. While you are flipping through your Bullet Journal pages on a daily basis you will no doubt pass the NYR page and be reminded of your big goals for the year which will keep those goals fresh in your mind. Also when created monthly goals you can reference back to it and ask yourself what you can do this month to achieve your overall goals.
